The purpose of this session to provide information on the importance of mentoring through Dennis Beale’s story about leading by example. Having grown up in a single parent household and faced with many obstacles along the way, Dennis lacked a father figure, personal guidance, integrity, spirituality, and the luxury of a “perfect” family. In August of 2020, he became a full-time entrepreneur working with Black and biracial youth because he saw need in our community that he felt marginalized people needed in order to create universal change.

Join us as Dennis shares his personal story of overcoming barriers to becoming a prominent entrepreneur and community advocate in the Chippewa Valley. Through success stories of others in Dennis’s network, we will also discuss the importance of mentoring and its impact, specifically in underrepresented communities. You will leave with best practices of effective mentorship so that if approached with the opportunity, you can be ready.

Key Takeaways

  1. Mentorship and its impact on underrepresented communities
  2. Best practices of effective mentorship
