Thurs, Sept 26 | 7-8 p.m. PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN

Kate and Tom Gomoll will tell their story about how they got into the field of Human-Centered Design and why it matters. They will share their path from being students at UWEC to being early user experience leaders at Apple to creating their Milwaukee company.

 

Friday, September 27 from 9a-1p – Human Center Design Workshop (lunch included)

Do a case study around the principle of human centered design / user experience. Getting in put for user personas and needs. Important to observe/interview. Build something and do a usability testing on the same case study by testing on a paper prototype or a process map.

 

This training is built especially for entrepreneurs or managers who wants to motivate others: getting clients/employees/vendors to get you information when you need it, or to follow your instructions. However, ANYONE wanting to work on their communication skills is welcome. 

Be prepared to work with others and have some fun along the way!

WHAT IS DESIGN THINKING?

Design thinking is a process for creative problem-solving using a human-centered approach:

FRAMING: understanding the current situation from a human-centered and empathetic point of view.

IDEATING: conceptualizing and exploring ideas that might address unmet needs.

EXPERIMENTING: trying out ideas in order to learn more.

GOALS OF THE WORKSHOP

• Become acquainted with your own design thinking qualities.

• Practice design thinking.

• Gain confidence and practical inspiration for participating in the Destination Medical Center Assistive Tech Challenge Pitch Competition.
